Music Enrichment

Music Enrichment

In addition to curriculum music lessons at Greenvale, there is a wide variety of enrichment activities and opportunities to experience live music. Throughout each year students are given the choice of musical enrichment activities, these may include choir, drumming, rock band, ukulele, djembe, strings and music tech groups. Students have opportunities to develop their musicianship skills, as well as develop confidence, communication and self-steam.

Open Orchestra

Greenvale started an Open Orchestra in September 2018. Open Orchestra creates ensembles that are accessible to young people whatever their need by promoting a young-people-centred approach, providing access to innovative digital instruments as well as traditional ones, and offering adapted musical repertoire. We are supported by Lewisham Music and regularly perform through the year.

For further information see: https://www.openorchestras.org/

String lessons

We have string lesson provided by teachers from Lewisham Music Service on both sites, currently our young people are learning the violin on Mayow Rd site and the Cello on Waters Rd site.

Community Opera Project

This annual event involves up to 10 students from Greenvale participating in a fully staged opera with the local community. Over 100 singers and instrumentalists from the local community perform alongside local primary school children, students from local special schools, students from Trinity Laban and a cast of professionals to create a production of great energy and originality as well as high artistic worth. The project is led by a fully professional creative team.
